2017年5月7日，南方电网公司印发通知，部署2017年无电地区电力建设工作任务，让电网向西藏、四川、内蒙古东部、青海和新疆等省区的偏远地区延伸，惠及9.6万无电户40万无电人口。

　　据悉，南方电网公司“十一五”期间“户户通电”工程完成后，公司大部分供区告别了无电历史。2006年以来，南方电网公司累计投资169.5亿元，解决了522.5万人的用电问题。近年来，由于自供区划转等管理体制变化，以及移民搬迁等因素，南方电网公司新增供区内产生了无电人口，主要集中在西藏、新疆、青海、四川、甘肃等省区和内蒙古东部的偏远地区。

　　国家高度关注民生，有关部门就加快无电地区电力建设、推动电力普遍服务等工作作出了部署。西部大开发“十二五”规划提出，用3年左右时间对未改造农村电网进行全面改造，供电区域基本实现“户户通电”，基本解决西藏、青海、四川、云南、新疆等省区远离电网、居住分散的约120万无电户500万无电人口的用电问题。
